Marianne Brown
Description:
Marianne Brown had her first experience with clay when she was eight years old, and from then on she was hooked. She tried other more traditional ways of making a living but none held her attention like clay. So, in 1996 she took the leap and quit her "real job," moved to Kentucky to be closer to family, and started being a full time potter. She has never looked back. She and her husband built a studio behind their home, then a kiln and also a forge (her husband is a knife smith). Potting full time has allowed Marianne's creativity and imagination to take off in new directions. Now, making a piece for you to pick up, use and experience is her dream come true.
Marianne Brown has been throwing and teaching pottery in central Kentucky for several years. Her work is unique with its textured and cut out decorations. After being thrown on the wheel, a pattern is applied to each piece by pressing or rolling a clay or wooden stamp of her design into the clay. Then in some cases cutout shapes are added to accent the textured pattern. Finally, each piece is glazed and then fired to over 2300° F. All of her glazes are lead free. All pottery is dishwasher and oven safe, however they should be heated and cooled slowly.
Marianne Brown Pottery Mug stands 4 3/4” high and is stamped on either side. Stamps will vary but are mostly equine in nature. Feel free to let us know if you prefer a horseshoe or horse stamp, and we’ll do our best to comply!
May we suggest: CaffeMarco Coffee or Elmwood Inn Tea
