APPALACHIAN MOUNTAIN CRAFTS was started in October 2008 when Navy veteran Eugene King, Jr. decided to start sending his woodcraft items to troops serving in the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. Gene was awarded a plaque by Governor Beshear for his support of the troops in early 2008, and when those troops suggested he start selling his crafts, he decided to follow through. Gene designed his workshop so that he could employ disabled persons in a friendly and understanding environment, and all of his profits go to support programs for American veterans.
