One-of-a-Kinds › Monotype Horse Print
P. Vara
Description:
Just a few short years ago for her 60th birthday, P. Vara's daughter gave her a canvas, brushes, paints, a photo of her son and a request to produce a recognizable painting by Christmas! Though never having painted before, she accepted the challenge - inspired by the beautiful artistry her father had produced late in his life. That painting is still hanging in her home . . . and she hasn't stopped yet!
"It is my privilege and honor to offer my work at Truly Bluegrass. I hope you enjoy the eclectic array from acrylics and watercolors to marble and old windows! I welcome commissions for custom paintings of your pet and would be grateful for the opportunity to bring your ideas to life." - P. Vara
Matted and framed Monotype Horse Print is a statement of color. (Please note there are reflections on the glass.)
From the artist: Called the most painterly method among the printmaking techniques, monotypes are essentially "printed paintings." The artist applied water-based inks to a prepared plexiglass plate, then hand pressed the plate onto previously dampened watercolor paper. The result is an original, one-of-a-kind image that cannot be repeated, hence the term "monotype." The challenge is painting in reverse, and the appeal is the unique translucency that creates a quality of light very different from a painting on paper.
