Featured Artist: Kay Collier McLaughlin
About the Artist:
KAY COLLIER McLAUGHLIN came to the art of collage as a “rest and re-creational” activity from her work as Director of Leadership Development for the Episcopal Diocese of Lexington, and as a consultant within numerous organizations and systems. Her series on Homage to Music and Art, Winter Magic and Golden Gingkos have won Best in Show awards. “Colors in the Wind at Keeneland” was featured in the live auction at the Opera Gala, and her work was selected to hang in the new hospital at the University of Kentucky. She has been featured in galleries and museums in Kentucky, Texas and Wisconsin, and had her first solo show in the summer of 2009. Her work includes framed collages, wall hangings, and one of a kind personalized books and boxes. She has also begun to study paper making, in order to achieve the colors and effects for particular projects. A Kentucky native, Dr. Collier McLaughlin holds a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology. The mother of two daughters, and adoring Gamma to three grandchildren, she and her husband live on a small lake in Nicholas County, Kentucky. She is the author of three books, and a passionate football fan.
